The birding products you can buy via this site are split into 3 different pages to allow easier navigation and product selection and browsing. This will help you find what you want quicker and therefore shorten your shoping time with us. When you shop online it’s easy to spend too much time just looking for the right birding products, bird books, guides, feeders, binoulars etc. So the bird shop has in fact three different bird product departments, and these are all listed below so you can see qucikly which page you need to go to first to start your search for the birding items you want.

For me this is the most interesting page on the site as it the place where you can find lots more interesting information on birds and bird watching, whether it is a book, a guide, a video or dvd.

There is a wealth of birding information here and it is the basis of what we all need to become more experience in this great hobby.

Birding Binoculars and Scopes

If you want to be a serious birder then you are going to need a pair of birdwatching binoculars or a birding scope pretty quickly otherwise you are not going to be see clearly any birds that are even just a short distance away. A birding binocular or scope gets you close to the birds and it is another item you should shop for. If you want to get really close to see every detail or just get close to one or more birds that are some distance away then you need a birder’s scope as the magnification you get is higher than from binoculars.

But to use your scope effectively you will also need to purchase a stand or tripod on which to maount the scope. This is because with the high magnification you will find that any movement of the scope will blur what you are looking at. Binoculars do not have this problem as they do not magnify the birds so much. So to get started binoculars would be a better choice as they are hand held (no stand!) and let you find birds quickly. A spotting scope is normally setup to focus closely on a bird once you have found it with your binoculars. You can get many binoculars today which are now very affordable and there is a great range in the bird shop, so check them out as soon as you can.

Bird Houses and Bird Feeders

If you really do only want to take part in bird watchin g at home then all you really need is a way of getting the birds into your yard so you can see more of them. Bird feeders, bird houses and bird baths are a great way to do this. And if you position them close to your home you may not even need binoculars to see them if the feeders etc are close enough. You may of course also prefer to get some binoculars too as this lets you see the wonderful colors of the birds and what they are up to in much better detail.

Buying a bird house or bird feeder at the bird shop is a great way to get started in birding as you will soon see a lot more birds, and even ones you have seen before,  by putting out food for the birds. And in the nesting season a bird box will let you see all the young when they leave the nest. Also if you are in to bird photography then getting more bird in your yard can be a lot of fun.

Bird Videos Are Just So Much Fun!

I just love bird videos and dvds as they are the one of the best ways to watch the birds. When it’s dark and you can’t get out as when the weather is bad you can put in a birding video or dvd and see all the wonderful birds onscreen whenever you like. You can easily shop for these online on this site and there is a great selection for you to choose from. If you have yet seen David Attenborough’s “Life of Birds” then you should do so as soon as possible. Filmed by the BBC it is an awesome set of bird videos – totally recommended (by me at least!).
