Birdhouses and Bird Feeders

Bird houses and bird feeders aer essential otems if you want to make the most out of your enjoyment of the bird in your yard and it also helps them out to.

Feeding the bird is probaly the biggest thing that an individual can do to benefit the birds and you benefit too because you get to see so much more of them.

A garden without a bird feeder may get birds in it but with a feeeder you will find than many many more birds will visit your backyard and this will usually last for the whole year round depending upon where you live and the habitat around your home.

Your birdfeeder, or feeders if you have more, can become like a little oasis for the birds and they will visit often each day on their daily rounds in the neighborhood, and they may even come to rely on your feeders as one of their major food sources.

So once you start feeding don’t just suddenly stop as your birds may be relying on you to survive. Give them some notice and cut down in a season when there is more natural food available to them.

Oh and if you have squirrels then you’ll need a squirrel proof bird feeder and the Squirell Buster Plus is the best for this job if you are feeding seeds in my opinion. There have been a couple feeding the birds in my yard for a long time and no successful squirrel attacks in several years of use!

Feeding The Birds In Winter Is The Most Important Time Of Year

Feeding the birds is especially important in the colder winter months of the year when your bird feed may be the major food source of the very few that are available to the bird at this time. Their survival may depend on the food you are giving them, so please don’t just stop feeeding as their maybe nowhere else for your birds to go. They can’t visit macdonalds!

Bird houses are another great way to get birds into your garden and your back yard. Many different species are hole nesters and will take readily to nesting in a bird box or birdhouse. Others will also use a bird house wihout a hole. Nesting boxes like this should be located a the correct height and this will be different for the different species of birds and also make sure that you position your bird houses so that preadtors like cats and hawks cannot easily attack the resident birds. Your may need additional protection to stop other birdhouse preadtors such as squirrels, who incidently will take you birds as well as the eggs!

Birds also like to drink as well as eat so you should try and provide a source of water for them to drink from. A bird bath is a great way to do this as it also provides the birds with a very useful way to clean themselves. Despite what you might think all birds like to bathe and a bird bath is obviosuly perfect for this. They can also make a nice ornamental additional to your garden or back yard too. If you live in an are whwere freezing is an issue in the colder winter season then you might get a heated bird bath and some of these can now be solar heated if you live in a sunnier area. These are not so that the birds can have a hot bath, but just to stop the water freezing so they can still drink from the bird bath.

You will find all the bird house, bird feeders and bird baths that you (or your birds!) could ever need in the bird shop. And there is a great variety and some very affordable items there for you to look at. Have fun choosing!
